Cindy F's St. Nick Progress

So sorry for the horrible pics! I was rushing so I can get some housework and errands taken care of! I've stitched almost 500 stitches this week.

Before:

After:

You really have to stand back to realize this is a toy, a clock and a framed picture on the mantle. I'm probably the only one who starts an HAED in the middle! I was afraid the fabric wasn't cut straight on this, but since I haven't tried gridding yet, thought I'd better stick with what I know best....starting in the middle...lol... I'm learning so much from you guys and I truly appreciate all of your suggestions. Next HAED, I will do so differently:)

You guys are amazing stitchers!!!

If it can be a comfort, I also started in the middle ;-))

Wendy spoke the whole time about starting at the side to be sure, but ... I'm a stubborn person sometimes hihi.

So I started at the middle, that's the way I have always done it and I find the most comfortable way.

Your work is becoming more and more beautiful.

Looking great, This piece has so much going on in it and as you stitch you will be delighted as you uncover little things that you has no idea where there.

Well, it really looks great already! You can see it on the picture too that it is a clock and a toy on the mantle. You did a lot of stitching. I can't wait to see it grow too.

Cindy, how on earth did you start in the middle :) I have been thinking zbout it, but with so many pages it was too much trouble finding the point I should start LOL.
And your stitching is great!!

Joke, I just laid out the charts to show the complete design...counted across, divided in half...counted vertical, divided in half...folded the fabric to find a center...and started in the middle. I've always started in the middle and some people suggest it in case your fabric isn't square. Didn't take long...faster than gridding...lol! But I do want to try gridding...some day:)

Great idea! Just the same way we always find the middle LOL. I started Call of the Raven with gridding, but I let go once I had a good start. Celtic Butterfly and Vibrant Vista I started without gridding, left corner. But I noticed I prefer starting in the right corner. Maybe that's what I do with the next HAED I start LOL
