Green Dragonling by my buddy Mag

Hello everybody !

A small article to show you my progress on Green Dragonling for May.
I haven't made much progress since April. I finished my second page and started my third page. with this new page, I stitch the design's background. This is not the most motivating part but at least there isn't much confetti stitch !
I've managed to do 10 200 stitches so far ! I stitch on 25 ct evenweave. Below are the pictures of my progress !!
I will probably not be able to do a lot of stitching in the coming weeks because we are moving in our new flat next weekend. I don't know when I'll get my internet access back but I hope it won't be too long.
Now it's time for me to go finish our boxes !

Magali's update : Green Dragonling

Hello !
Here is my update on "Green Dragonling" by Jasmine Becket Griffith.
I've finished my first page (page 15) and I'm curently working on page 14. I started with the black on this new page. There are some confetti stitches to come to finish the eye and start the ear. I really love her eye, so expressive !!

I stitch on 25ct evenweave. I've made 6470 stitches so far.

Magali's Green Dragonling update

Hello all !

Here is my update on "Green Dragonling" by Jasmine Becket Griffith.

I've almost finished my first page (page 15). There was some confetti stitch at the bottom left of the page but I've almost done with it. I was so happy to see part of her eye appearing. It was almost magical !! I will continue with page 14 very soon.

I stitch on 25ct evenweave. I've managed to do 4200 stitches so far ! I still have a long way to go !

Hello everyone !

This is my first post on this wonderful blog. Thank you to my buddy Céline for publishing this post.

I've started working on my first HAED project a month ago. I fell in love with Jasmine Becket-Griffith's work and I chose "Green Dragonling" for my first pattern.

I stitch 1x1 on 28 count Evenweave. It's the first time I make such tiny crosses !! I started working in the middle on the chart.

Below are pictures of my progress so far.

I hope to be able to show you more of the dragonling soon !

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
