I'm Baaaack

Yes I have been remiss in stitching on my HAEDs. I had to take a break and do some little things. I feel like I have accomplished something and now the BAPs call to me again. June was suppose to be the Fantasies of the Seas month in my rotation, so I pulled it out last weekend and put in about 500 stitches. Here it is.

Now that it's July, I will be pulling out The Astronomer and hopefully put some stitches in that during the three day weekend.

End of this month

Here are the pictures of Fantasies of the Seas before I rotate to my next piece. It was a pretty good month. I finished page 13 and completed 2 columns on page 14. There was a lot of confetti on the new page with 30 to 40 different symbols per block. Here is where I was earlier this month.

Fantasies of the Sea

This is my month for Fantasies of the Seas and I finished page 13 last night while watching television. I love this piece more and more as I work on it.

Hopefully, I'll get a few rows done on page 14 before it's time to rotate.

My New Year Resolution

I have decided that I am going to rotate my HAEDs by the month. So in the month of December I started row 3 page 13 of Fantasies of the Seas. I almost finished the page. I lack about a column and a half for having the page done. Here is where I am stopping tonight.

I'm switching to Contemplating the System this weekend. I'll see how far I get in a month on that one.

Fantasies of the Seas

Well after a week of not stitching because I was ill, I finally took up my needle again last Wednesday and finished off the second row of pages for Fantasies yesterday.

I just restarted Contemplating the System. I don't have much to show yet, just a couple hundred stitches. Hopefully I'll have more to show next week.

FoS Update

I didn't get as much done this week as I did last week, but almost. I have three more columns to stitch and I will have the second row completed. However, I need to work an one of my non-HAEDs to keep up with the parts as they come out, but I'll be back to this as soon as that is done.

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
