I have an update on The King.  I started in the middle, thinking about not stitching all of the background, maybe just the darker oval directly behind him.  I'm figuring it out as I go along.  This is the detail from pages 1, 2 & 5.  Thanks for looking!

Way Past Due for an Update

Hello Wonderful Stitchers!  

It's been a long time since I posted an update, I know.  Rest assured that I've been behind the scenes running the blog and keeping up with buddies, etc.  I read every post.  You guys are awesome.  The beautiful work displayed here always amazes me.  I want to thank each and every one of you for your contributions.  Breathtaking work, all! 

I have a couple of wips to show.  I have 11 HAEDs started, so it's not easy to keep everything moving along.  But that's nothing new to you peeps, you all have so many gorgeous pieces on the go!  I'll just share a few of the ones that I have made some progress with this year.

First off there's the QS Freebie for this year, Fragile Heart.  I've completed pages 1 - 4.  Don't mind the dirt marks!  I was stitching on it outside by the pool this Summer, and DH got ashes on her (it was breezy), it will wash out.  Stats:

Next up my progress on Goblin Tree.  As you know, this is a retired chart from Linda Ravenscroft, so it's worked on every 5th week during the retired artists SAL on the board.  Pages 1-14 Complete.  Stats:

New (Re-start) Excitement

Those of you that keep up with the board are probably already read my posts about the Passione Ricamo 30 ct. evenweave linen that Fudgey suggested. And you know that I wasn't exactly happy with my original start of QS Arthur on 32 ct. I put a few more stitches in on the 32 ct. for the SAL this weekend, but I still wasn't happy with it, so I scrapped it. I re-started it on the 30 ct. (Ivory) on Saturday. Below left is the 32 ct., right is the new 30 ct.

What a difference! I didn't realize how bad it was till I put them next to each other! So I am happy and excitied about Arthur once again. Got approx. 900 stitches in this weekend.

New Start

I was so excited to see Linda Ravenscroft's Mystic Mogs charted by HAED! I got them all. I have no self control. I started Arthur over the weekend. It's not that exciting looking, as I started in the upper left corner. It's all background so far.

First the Original beauty:

Here's my start:




Stats: 32 ct. Zweigart Belfast Linen, Olive Green. Full cross 1 X 1.

Belfast isn't my favorite, but it was the perfect size and I liked the contrast from the backround of the chart to the fabric. The background is a lot of creamy, peachy, yellowy floss, and I thought it would be too hard to see where I stitched and where I didn't if I went with a more netural color. I can always run the matt right up to the edge of the stitching later on if I don't like the look of the fabby. It isn't a dark color, it's soft and light, not like you would think of an Olive Green. This is the first HAED I am attempting on 32 ct. Everything else is on 28 ct. What do you think? Does it look okay?

It's soothing, just stitching a lot of one color for a while. It's a contrast to other projects with a lot of detail stitching. I'm going to try to work my way (cross country) down to his ears. Get some of the detail stitches going, then I'll have a reference point to work over to where there is less detal stitching on the other side. That way I can work on either a lot of detail, or not, depending on my mood. Plus getting used to the 32 ct. doing a lot of one color is helpful.
