Maxine's Dragon Riders Progress

Let me start off by showing you my DD Jen's progress, this was her last update....

and here's her progress upto date... it's a little crooked because we left it on the scroll frame just undid it a bit to take a pic of the whole thing :)

She hasn't got much more to do so watch this space :)
In the meantime here's my Dragon Riders progress...the before pic...

I've got it all set up to start the next page and the very slim page after that so that will finish off the top row :) Thank you for reading and commenting ladies. Great work everyone let's keep it up :)

I have been stitching away on D.R. so here's another update.....

Here's my DD Jennifer's update of her Nadia Tate ...she's got loads done and has only one full page and two small ones across the bottom left to do :)

Maxine's Dragon Riders Progress

Hello everyone long time no see :) I finally got back to some HAED stitching after a stressful few weeks. Out came Dragon Riders, here's my before pic just to remind you all where I had got to....

Here's where it as of lunch time today...this pic is more true to the colours than the one above.

I am staying with this for a couple more days at least so hopefully more progress to show next week...was going to say this page may get finished but then I always jinx myself lol.

Here's DD Jennifer's HAED Puppy Love Fae....

She has got all the way across the top and is now coming down the right hand side. When she has finished this page I'll take a full pic so you can see it in all it's glory :)

Going to spend a few minutes (or should that be hours lol) looking over all your wonderful progress. Keep up the great work ladies.

Maxine's Darkling Update

Sorry for the late post, we had a very busy weekend visiting my mam and dad (it was my mam's birthday) and my eldest DD Leanne her partner Barry and my DS Gary. This is the first opportunity to get on the computer since...I brought out Selena Fenech's Darkling....

I seem to have lost my HAED mojo although I am enjoying stitching on all my other WIP's....fingers crossed it returns for this weeks SAL. You can see on the above pic all the blue highlighted on the chart is what I got done Thursday night.
Here is my DD Jennifer's progress you can see she has made a start on the top of the next page now :)

This is what it looked like before she started stitching the next top page and while it was off the frame...

Maxine's Update

Well technically my DD Jennifer's progress as I didn't stitch on my HAED's!

I can't remember what her last wip pic was but after stitching on her last Thursday and Friday this is where she's up to now :)

Thanks for looking. Great work everyone..... it never ceases to amaze me all the beautiful wip pics on here :)

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
