HAED's Princess Izzy and Mini Lucia Updates by Gizzimomo

Hi Everyone,

I've got lots to report since my last post as I have finished Page 9 (out of 36) of Princess Izzy by Hannah Lynn AND Page 4 (out of 8) of Mini Lucia by Myka Jelina!

First up is Princess Izzy.....

.... so that's the middle block of 9 pages finished but still a very long way left to go!

Next up is Mini Lucia....

Mini Lucia - After 4 Pages

Mini Lucia is a little minx as she is stuffed full of confetti but the effect is truly beautiful!

Princess Izzy as of 25th July 2012 (6 Pages Done) by Gizzimomo

Hey Everyone,

Even though I'm virtually melting in this heatwave the UK's going through at the moment I finally managed to get my page done on Izzy. I must say that I thought it would never be done as I had several days of not doing a stitch at all but YAAAYY I did it!

Total Progress So Far (After 6 Pages)

She's looking sooooo good although I was a bit worried about the orange stripes and spots on the edge of her dress but from a distance it looks perfectly fine and overall she just looks simply beautiful! So now I'm going to go down a page and work back across the bottom so I'll have done a 9 page square.

HAED's QS Darcy - FINISHED 27.10,2010 by Gizzimomo

I finally finished her!!!!

Here is the finished QS Darcy by Hannah Lynn Disney and I do believe that she looks fantastic!! I'm really chuffed with the outcome!

I've got my next BIG peice on the frame ready to go but as before I'm not going to tell you what it is but will give you the opportunity to have a guess at what it is..... as I said before I decided to restart the Logan Storykeep so I will get that re-started at some point but I really want to start the big project first!

HAED's QS Darcy - Progress As Of 15.10.2010 by Gizzimomo

Here's the latest update on QS Darcy... I'm on the bottom row now so she's really close to finish. I've finished the partial page 7 and am stitching the partial page 8 with only a tiny partial page to go before she's done.

There was lots of Kreinik on her body on this page but the pictures never show the sparklies which is a shame as the majority of her skin on the whole design is shiny.

Can't wait to finish her as I don't want to start anything new until she is finished and I have THREE HAED's kitted up waiting to go...... one's a Storykeep (on which I'm going to try tent stitch for the first time on an HAED), one's a Tiny Treasure and one is a full size design...... all very exciting!!!!

First Post Here - HAED Progress as of 02.10.2010

It's my first post here so thanks for letting me join you all.

I'm Thea from Andover in the UK, I'm 34 and have been married for 8 1/2 years. I discovered HAED a couple of years ago and I'm now totally obsessed with stitching HAED designs to the point that I'm currently stitching three designs in rotation, with another three all kitted up and waiting to be started.......

The design I'm stitching right now is QS Midnight Tender by Ching Chou Kuik
Stitched on 22 count hardanger, 1 over 1

Also in rotation is QS Darcy by Hannah Lynn Disney

Stitched on 25 count evenweave, 1 over 1

And the final peice in rotation is for the HAED BB SAL and is Masquerade Storykeep by Ching Chou Kuik

Stitched on 25 count evenweave, 1 over 1

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
