Gypsy Rose Update.

This blog is so inspiring, it is so good to know that when I stitch on this design on Thursdays that there are so many of you stitching along with me, who cares about different time zones!!!

There has been quite a bit more added to this since I took this photo, including me going off on a tangent.

Well, I hope that everyone else finds this blog as inspiring as what I do.

It has been a while since I have I posted here, sorry everyone. But even though I haven't posted, I have been participating the the Thursday SAL. So here are my before and after pictures of Gypsy Rose.

This blog is so inspiring and I just love seeing all of the projects that you are working on. I don't comment very often on other posts but I do read all of them. Keep up the great work everyone.

Gypsy Rose

For this SAL I am stitching on Gypsy Rose, not too much progress this week, but it all helps. This week I have also stitched on a secret project, there is a competition on my blog Aussie Stitcher to name it, and Faery Tales.

Where I finished on the right hand side is the end of the page.

These are both terrible photos, need some photography lessons I think.

All of your projects are looking fantastic, and reading your posts is so inspiring to me, keep it up ladies.

Quick Update

Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments on my last post, I just love getting comments. For the Thursday night SAL I decided to stitch on Gypsy Rose, I don't have a before shot but here is where I finished up with her.

Through the week I put some stitches into Faery Tales. Here is the before picture and a close up of after

I also had a new start and I am having a competition on my blog, Aussie Stitcher, so pop on over and try your luck!!

My First Post

Well this is my first post on this blog, thanks to Cindy and Wendy for setting it up. Isn't it great to see so many wonderful designs?

I have currently four HAED wips, two which I have worked on recently, and two, not so recently but I refuse to call them UFO's as I fully intend to finish them one day.

The two that I am working on at the moment are Faery Tales and Land of Enchantment. I don't
have any wip pictures of Land of Enchantment, but I can share a couple of Faery Tales.

I am enjoying working on this so much that nothing else is getting much attention. When I ordered this I got the large size graph, and it has 60 pages. So far I have completed 9.

The two designs that haven't been stitched on for some time are:

Bubbles, and

Gypsy Rose.

Seeing their finished pictures makes me want to get them out to stitch on them, not entirely a bad thing!!!

Anyway, must go and read some blogs, I do read this one when ever it comes up on my bloglines, which is often with how many posts get put on it, and I just love seeing all the wonderful progress that everyone is making, keep it up ladies, we will all have finishes one day.

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
