A lot of updates

Hi everyone,

I have lot of pictures to show. It has been a while since I lasted posted.

First of all, I am back working on Magnificent Wings. I finally finished her forehead (yay!) and I have fun again stitching her hair.

stitched on 25 cnt black evenweave

This picture doesn't do her much justice. Her eyes are very colorful and bright irl.

Also I have a new start. I wanted to stitch something on aida because the others were going so slow. I wanted something easier to stitch. So I started TT A Pale Comparison. She is stitched on 20 count white(I know it looks blue on the picture, but it is really white!) aida and I really like stitching her. I am halfway already.

I haven't worked so much on QS Creativity, but still a small update on her:

And I started SK SAL Rapunzel. She has some intense confetti going on!

TT A Pale Comparison as of 11th June 2011 - ANOTHER FINISH by Gizzimomo

Here I am with another finish guys!!

TT A Pale Comparison is done!

Totally finished as of 11.06.2011

Now I'm heading back to QS Emerald Dragon which I'll stitch until he's finished, hopefully with the aim of getting him done by the end of August to get him into the reward program. Then the plan is to do some work on Faerie Melody and the two BB SAL's before starting a new start which will be the previously mentioned QS Waiting by Ching Chou Kuik.

TT A Pale Comparison as of 17th April 2011 by Gizzimomo

Hi Everyone,

Here's my progress on TT A Pale Comparison after a tricky page where I had to frog her forehead as the colour was totally wrong! I got there in the end though and here she is with just one page to go until she's finished!!

I'm going back to Fairy Melody until I go into hospital on May 3rd and am hoping to get a couple of pages done! Also trying desperately to persuade DH to let me get four charts in the HAED sale (A Portrait of Ophelia (JBG), QS See A Butterfly (Kuik), QS Waiting (Kuik) and QS Getting Wild (Kuik) but he's not having it at the moment, got until the end of the day so fingers and toes crossed LOL!!!!

TT A Pale Comparison as of 30th March 2011 (2 Partial Pages Done) by Gizzimomo

Here’s the first update on the progress of my new start TT A Pale Comparison by Jasmine Becket-Griffith.

I’ve finished the two partial pages on the right hand side of the design and only have two full pages to stitch. I think that if I can do my usual page a week then I could in theory have this piece finished in a fortnight which will be cool!

As you can see she already has some lips and nose and I can tell already that she is going to be so very cute! You'll have to excuse the grid lines and the hoop marks but I'm going to crack straight on with the next page so I'm not going to wash the lines out until she's finished this time round.

A New Start - Started 28th March 2011 by Gizzimomo

Well as you can probably tell from the title of this post I've been naughty again and instead of going back to Faerie Melody as planned I've started a new HAED (Putting my HAED WIP's up to five now!) and here she is...............

She's TT (Tiny Treasure) A Pale Comparison by the wonderful Jasmine Becket-Griffith.

Here are the important details:

Stitching on 25 count white evenweave

1 thread over 1 square (2 over 1 on all metallics, using Sulky instead of Kreinik again!)

Started on 28th March 2011

Finished TBA

She's only a small design, two full pages and two tiny partial pages (only 5 stitches across) so I'm going to stitch the two partial pages and then go back to Faerie Melody. I guess I just wanted to be able to say I'd started her!! I have had her kitted up for some time now after all!

As soon as there is something worth photographing then I'll post you a WIP!

Tutorials

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent Stitching (Wikipedia)
Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
