I'm still stitching

I just spent a half hour going over all the beautiful posts you all have been making. Sooooo many beautiful designs, you are -- each and every one of you -- Enablers of the First Degree!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful designs and beautiful stitching with us.

I have managed to get about 1200 new stitches into Dreams of Atlantis since Christmas. Not much, but it keeps me coming back (LOL). Thanks for looking.

I just read over all your wonderful progress posts. I really enjoying seeing everything you are working on. Finishes and new starts and bits here and bits there. It's such fun to see all your work. I really wish I could comment on each post but I've been at the computer for only 20 minutes and my eyes are burning, itching and tearing so bad I have to stop whether I want to or not. Thank you for posting, every time I read about your ups and downs I learn something, or find something new and interesting. Keep up the wonderful work and I'll keep reading about it.

the gridding so I figured I better put in a few stitches also. I think since the last photo I finihed off the bottom of page 1 and started another page. But there is a waaaaaayyyyyy long way to go yet. This is the first piece that I did gridding on that I only did part of the grid before beginning the stitching --- never again. Either do it all or don't do it at all. It's a real pain to have to stop to put in more grid and trying to put in a grid line over existing stitches sucks! I hope you might learn something from my mistake there, I know I did. I know it doesn't look like a whole page, but I did get the large print chart so the pages are much smaller -- but there are way more of them too, I think there are something like 40 more pages to come (LOL).

Yoyo Progress #4

The good news is I got a super new computer -- the bad news is it didn't want to connect to the internet. I've been trying to get this posted since Thursday night but my internet connection kept dieing out, very weird. And don't we all just love those "technical help" people, right! But I think the problem is, if not solved, at least temporarily fixed. So the better news is I have some pretty good progress this week on Dreams of Atlantis. I'm very happy with what I've accomplished since my last post (about 1900 stitches) especially since I had at least three days of no stitching at all.

Mermaids and Sea Gods

I got up before the red breasted robins this morning for some weird reason. But that's OK, because I put that 'extra' time to good use today. I think I got very close to 500 stitches into Dreams of Atlantis. Stitching just seemed to flow so well this morning, for a change.

This is about 1/3 of the first page. I got a large print chart so my pages are smaller....but there are many more of them (LOL). Here is before and after. We're seeing a few sea flowers here, just moving into a bit of sky where dophins will soon be frolicking and then ... Neptune. That just feels so good to me when I pick up this piece. I know it's not much compared to so many of you, but I'm feeling pretty good about it. I just love this design and the fabric is so very easy to stitch on I really should find more time to put into it. I haven't gotten back to Atlantis Storykeep yet either but I've decided to put a little more

concentration into my BAPs and lay off some of the little things this month, so maybe I can post again in August.

Now I'm off to spend some time seeing what all of you have been up to. I did browse for a couple of minutes before I decided to type while I can still see and some of you are just blazing along. Your pictures and stories give me such wonderful encouragement. Keep those needles burning! And thanks for looking.

I've just looked through all the posts for this month. My goodness you are all moving along so fast. Some of you are phenominal! You can sure tell I am the slow stitcher in this group! I love to see your progress thank you so much for your sharing and encouragement.

I haven't stitched on my large piece this month at all but I did get some done on the storykeep Thursday.

(I forgot about posting, sorry.) Here is before and after. I think I got about 200 stitches and I absolutely know that every single hole left behind is filled this time. If there is another hole in there it's going to stay at this point.

I didn't get too far but I did manage a little more gridding and about 400 stitches into Dreams of Atlantis Friday.

"Dreams of Atlantis", Week 2

This is a large print chart so what you see is the full width of the page, how cool, I can run through pages quickly (comparitively)...but there are like 42 pages so it won't be any too fast.

I am enjoying seeing everybody's wonderful progress. I can't tell you how inspiring this blog is for my HAED stitching. I absolutely know I would not have started this piece without all of you to push me. I need to leave comments for this past week, but since I can't do anything quickly and I just did my own blog post, my eyes are killing me already. I'll have to pop in tomorrow to see what you have all been up to. Happy Stitching!!!!

Do mermaids have navels?

This one does, finally! I didn't have much time today but I did SAL with you for a little while. Mostly I filled in some single stitches in the previous 10 rows and then began the next 10.

I have several other obligation pieces working so I'm only working HAED on SAL day, but it is more than I was doing before this group came together. I seem to get much further along on obligation pieces, so while this is low on the obligation list is it on that list in my mind thanks to all of you. My eyes are dead tired so I'll be back tomorrow to see all your beautiful pieces.

I am soooooo bad

I am so bad. I keep looking at all the beautiful projects here. Plus I purchased several charts from HAED a couple of weeks ago during a sale. One of those, "Dreams of Atlantis" by Josephine Wahl, I like so much I'm using the picture as my desktop wallpaper — which means I'm looking at it every day, several times a day.
There it is
a shameless new start
So… you guessed it! I spent my Thursday HAED SAL time gridding a new fabric and have actually put in a few stitches. I never put stitches in the fabric before it's completely gridded so you can see how anxious I am to work on this one. I bought the large print chart and there are something like 43 pages of chart, it was a bit daunting to think about that, but I'm in it now. I've got all the threads and I'm off and running. Then, yesterday, after receiving the HAED newsletter I saw a gorgeous chart on their homepage, "Fairy Tales" and I forget who Michelle said the artist is… but this time I was slightly smarter I just put that one on my wish list. Way too much enabling going on throughout this entire blog!!!

No stitching today

We got stuck at the hospital taking a "little test" that ended up lasting more than four hours...if I had been warned I would have taken my stitching with me, darned doctors! But I will make up for missing Thursday SAL on Saturday. I saw all the great posts today in my RSS Reader, wow, you are all doing such great work. It's late, I'll be back to really read all the new posts tomorrow.

Wendy & Cindy...I see a note in the sidebar that we can 'tag again...so what did you do to solve the problem?? Bloggers want to know.

Yoyo's Storykeep

I think I got about 200 stitches in on SAL Thursday. She has hips!!! I'm getting a kick out of the picture process ... I'm stitching it upside down, then I thought you'd see it better if I turned it over, and that makes a pretty cool effect with the carried threads. Good thing I started with a Storykeep...I'm learning sooooooooo much.

I'm off to look at all the progress reports. Happy Stitch'n.

Commenting

I'm making a rule....well it's just for me, but you should know about it so you don't think I missed you. There are over 30 new posts today when I logged in that I have not commented on. So, I started going backwards from the front and eventually noticed a few of you have updated twice or more since my last checkin. I have mentioned before that I have to limit my computer time due to my eyes and screen glare. So, here is my rule. When I visit the blog, I start at the most recent post, and I do try to comment on everybody's work. But if you have posted more than once since I was last here, I'm not going to comment on your older post. That won't save me much computer time but it will save some. I love all the posts and I do look at each and every one. You ladies (and gentlemen if we have any) are just awesome stitchers! I am sooooooooo inspired by seeing all your progress and very much enjoy your helpful hints and tidbits of personal info as well. But us older people have to take care that we can still see to stitch after we shut down the computer. Happy Stitching Everybody.

Tiny progress for a tiny chart

I didn't get as much done as I had hoped but I did fill up ALL of my single holes. That was a major achievement for me. As I was working on that I also had one of those hit yourself in the head light bulbs come on. I had said to somebody in an e-mail about "how to" stitch these that I had made an almost fatal error on this, my first, HAED project by starting at the bottom of the chart. I started at the bottom because there were only 10 or 12 lines on that page and I wanted to toss the extra piece of paper. I am used to carrying my threads down as I go, and having started at the bottom, that simply didn't work....I did hang a few off the side but they would keep getting in the way because the silly thing is so small. I had no idea how intricate a HAED was when I began this project. Anyway, there I am stitching away and this light bulb went off, "Well, dummy -- turn the chart and the fabric up-side down and it will appear as though you are stitching from the top down and you'll be able to carry your threads more conveniently!" So I have been stitching up-side-down and I can really say, even though my progress does not compare to you other busy bees, this is the best one sitting progress I have made yet. I know I'll be racing through the rest of this now --- that is racing through as the snail not the rabbit. Oh and.... DS came to visit while I had this out and I explained to him this is a gift for DH....guess who thinks he needs one too!! NOT. So here is what my mermaid looks like standing on her head. Yoyo says Hello

Hello fellow stitchers. I'm Yoyo, I have a real name but have been called Yoyo for more than 50 years, so that will do fine. I am almost embarrassed to enter this blog with my little tiny Storykeep. But I have been working on this for a very long time and I feel like I'm getting no where. In the past I've done several Teresa Wentzler pieces so when I purchased my first HAED's I just figured they'd be like the TWs...but for me that just isn't the case. I will admit though, that I'm much older now and do have a lot more trouble with my eyes than when I was stitching Peacock Tapestry.

I'm working on my first HAED, Atlantis Storykeep, artwork by Selena Fenech, and have two more Storykeeps and Cindy F.'s Santa in his Study in my stash...which up until this blog came along I had almost decided would never see the light of day. But hopefully, forcing me to publish continuing progress may change my mind on that score. You'll notice in my photos that I have gridded my fabric. I actually had stitched about 65 rows before I decided to do that. If any of you are older like me, I will highly recommend that you take the time to do it before you start. I had several visits from the ubiquitous frog before I did that. Gridding the fabric made a huge difference for me, I have not misplaced one stitch that I know of since I did this and I really seem to be moving along a lot faster (read with a lot less frustration!!) than before. So, here is my first photo. I don't count stitches or hours, but I can say I'm about 45% done because of the number of rows in the project. I'm eagerly looking forward to watching all your projects. I have already learned that I should have done this with only one strand of floss (it's DMC 2 over 1 on 25 ct linen) and I'm sure I'll pick up more tips along the way. Thank you all for sharing your projects, I really enjoyed reading all the previous posts.
