Question With Fabric

I see all of your beautiful stitching but was wondering if you all use the 25 ct for the pattern?  All the HAED patterns I have call for 25 ct white.  Has anyone used any other fabric?  Sorry, hope this is ok to post but needing help on the fabric issue.  Meaning I am still not sure what fabric to use. : )

I personally use 28 ct evenweave.

I use 28 ct evenweave, usually a lugana or jobelin. I prefer the way the thread covers on this count. This is really a matter of taste though. If you have different size scrap pieces, try out a few stitches and see how you like it. It also depends on if you are going to do full crosses or tent stitching. It's best to experiment and find what works for you.

I personally never use white-you can see the fabric thru the darker threads. I try to match the color of the fabric to the majority of colors in the pattern. I use 25 count usually-28 is a little too small for me.

I want to thank all of you for your input! I think I will use a 25 count light purple for this one.
Thanks for your help : )

These patterns are so well charted that they will be beautiful on almost any count and color of fabric. As you've done, choose the color you like for the piece and a count you are comfortable with. I've seen wonderful finishes on 28ct colored fabrics with one strand of floss and our own Astrid has amazing finishes on 18ct (white?) Aida using 2 strands.

My thing is 32ct jobelan, which a number of people think I'm insane for but does look good. I can't quite make my peace with 25ct personally, because I don't like stitching on it, but I've seen plenty of beautiful WIPs and finishes done at that count :)

I'm doing my HAED on 18 count aida. I can't do 25 count as my hand cramps up.

I am doing my HAED piece on 25 count ivory and it looks great and my next one will be on the same material.
I also have a Mystic Stitch piece on 18 count aida, which I will never use again. If I didn't have so much already done I would start it over on 25 court.
I think it is all a matter of what you like to stitch on and for me its 25 count.

I've stitched on 14 count, 16 count and 18 count aida, all with two strands. Even the one on 14 count aida is beautiful, although I prefer 18 count now. I wouldn't use 25 count one over one, because it's too small. I want to stitch in a comfortable position and I don't want to use a loupe or anything like that. The patterns are beautiful, it's difficult to make a wrong choice.
