Vibrant Vista

Hi stitching friends! I have been working on Vibrant Vista again and I almost accomplished page 2 and with that I have done the first row! I know, the order is a bit strange for anybody who didn't follow my progress. I started on page 1, then moved to page 5, because I liked stitching from right to left more, so now I finally closed the gap between the pages. The sky is done, there are a few stitches to do between the tree and on the bottom of page 2 where a small roof is coming up.

I love the browns and golds! So rich and warm,Fall like. I'm still happy everytime I see it that the two sides matched!

I have a question about stitching right to left. Let's say the top row has five pages. You would stitch page 5, then 4, then 3, working right to left. But when you start on page five, do you stitch that page right to left (starting on stitch 100 and counting down) or left to right (starting on stitch one working up)? Why do you prefer right to left?
TIA,
Sabine

Dear Joke,

When I saw your progress, I was astonished !! How do you do that ?!!

When I look through my window, I wish I saw a sky like the one in your Vibrant Vista...

And, in the tree which is now finished (poor tree, transfixed by a needle...like a voodoo doll !!), I can already see a little cute parrot sitting on a branch...

I wish you a good sunday !

Hugs...

To answer you question, Sabine, I prefer stitching from right to left because that way the thread I stitch with doesn't bother me while stitching. Also I find it easier in combination with 'hanging' threads. Since I am right-handed this way the hanging threads aren't touched by my stitching hand that much and I can pull them aside with my left hand, while holding the fabric.

And yes, I stitch everything from right to left, so I work from sticht nr. 500, counting down. I also work over pages, when a color asks for it. That way I have less hanging threads and you don't see the line I tend to see when I stitch a page all the way.

Marie, progress is less than you think, it has been almost a month :) Poor tree, you are right, it looks like voodoo LOL

Joke,
Thanks for the explanation! There is no one, outside of cyberspace, in my life who stitches. I always look at everyone's WIPs thinking about "how" they stitch so I can try new ways and find what's best for me. I've tried gridding and parking and didn't adopt either method, but who knows when something may click.
