Dragon Knot 2 Update

This was my first Thursday with the SAL. I am currently working a big convention so I was only able to put in a few hours of "lazy" stitching. Meaning I was so tired, I could barely concentrate on it, but I wanted to participate a little bit at least!

I've been working on Dragon Knot for my sailor for about a year(?). I can't quite remember. But it's been a while. Here is my before picture:

And this is what I was able to accomplish last night:

I don't know if you can tell, but I worked on the bottom left corner of the picture:

I hope to get more done for the next week's post!

The Final Few

Hi everyone,
I am new to blogging, but have cross stitched for years and years. More than I like to count. I am working on the HAED The Final Few. I saw it in the Nordic Needle catalog and fell in love as did my mother, who is 92, and I am stitching this for her. I do hope and pray that she is with us for a long long time. I started this on November 7, 2008 and this is the extent of my progress. It has been un though, even if sometimes the stitching gets a little tedious.
I am a retired school teacher. I taught for 32 years in the small town of Douglas, Arizona right on the Mexican border. Our house was 15 blocks from the border. We loved Douglas and raised our two children there. When we retired me moved to Tucson, Arizona where we live now. There is more to do here and with all the violence along the border we are glad to be a little bit away from it.
I have done Cross stitch, Needlepoint, Hardanger, Blackwork and Crewel. I enjoy them all but the Cross stitch and Hardanger are my true favorites.
In case you haven't guessed, this is my first time writing to a blog. If I make any gross errors, please let me know.
Anne

My Progress This Week

I stitch on several projects each week so I'll show you the two that I made the most progress with this week:

Steam Punk Fairy, 18ct 2 over 1 full x's:
11 March 09

Mermaid of the Deep, 28ct 1 over 1 full x's:
09 March 09

Have a great weekend!

Cheryl

THE FIRST STITCHES

I have my HAED "snow white" obtained in 2hobby to Wendy and am delighted with! I have about 92 colors and I also try my wires parking as Vickie explained! Thanks Vickie! Yesterday made my preparations and my first stitches! It is not much but it's a start!
Hugs Ingrid

A Big Hello From Me

i would just like to introduce myslef.

I am 27 years old and addicted to HAEDS.

My list of projects seems to be ever growing:

I currently have French Kiss, Mysterian, Pirate and Mermaid, Cuddle Time, Ballet pigs, Tombuy, Sea of Roses, QS Purple Dragonfly and QS Pirate Dragon.

And I am still wanting to add more.

On my next post I will include pictures so you can all see progress through the year (when college allows me time).

Lavender Moon

Well, here is my progress as of last night. I managed to put in about 350 stitches last night and a total of 800 stitches since Sunday night. I love working on this piece and I just don't want to put it down! LOL Thanks for looking!

Mistress Of Wolves

Here is my after picture for this week. I had a great time stitching yesterday, and wondered how many out there were also stitching.

She is stitched 1 over 1 on 28 ct. off white evenweave.

Wendy's Land of Enchantment

Hi fellow stitchers,

I first would like to say that I really enjoy all of your wonderful designs. You guys are doing a great job! It does encourage to keep going on your project.

I have been stitching on my HAED Land of Enchantment Sunday all day and yesterday evening. You all were in my thoughts while I was stitching yesterday.

I'm almost halfway my first page. I have in total 3200 stitches done. So here is my progress on Land of Enchantment.

Thanks to the good explanation of Vickie I started to park my threads also, and it is really easy to do so. In fact, it goes a little faster. You should give it a try also.

Wishing you all a wonderfull weekend with lots of stitching fun.
Hugs,
Wendy

1 page done!

I was determined to finish up the first page and with the exception of about 70 confetti stitches I did. I'm having the greatest time stitching this but for the rest of this week at least I'm putting it away to work on another project or two.

I'm enjoying reading everyone's updates and looking at all the wonderful stitching. You ladies are AMAZING!!!

My Queen of Hearts

Hi everyone! It's Rachel here (aka rachelsparkles). I thought I would share my Queen of Hearts progress with you all. I havent stitched on her for a while now so she in need of much attention. I shall be stitching her non stop for the next week and hopefully I shall get lots more done :)

I just have to say, I love the idea of this blog where lots of us all over the world can write in it and share our progress and beloved hobby. What a lovely and creative idea this was :) I love reading everyone's posts too, it really inspires me, I love you all!

Leaf progress

Before

Here is my progress - she now has another eye-brow. I have been stitching on her quite a bit this week. I just love stitching on this piece especially now that her face is coming together. I love having the face done as she then talks to me as I stitch.

I just love reading people's stories about their stitching journey. I also love the fact that we come from all over the world with so many different life stories. It really enriches my life to know you all.

I have also been working on Daydreaming SAL too.

My Winter Angel

Hi, this is Marie !

Where should I begin ?

Words fail me to express my feelings about this blog. When I left my first post, I was already glad because I have shared what is so important for me. But when I checked my post later, I had the good surprise to see a number before "comments". So I opened the window, and while I was reading all the lovely comments of you all, there were tears in my eyes...
I think that I didn't believe enough in my work. And every sentence of every comment is like a stone which contribute to build the wall of my waith. So, at you all, Merci beaucoup.
Before I knew it exists, I really missed that blog. I'm astonished to discover how this blog represents for me such a sane emulation. Sharing, reading and admiring the work of each member is an enchantment. And it really keeps my motivation on.

Since my first update, I began to work on the sky and I'm just near the moon. And more than the sun, I love the moon. So I'm excited to continue this part. But before this, I wanted to work a little bit on the flowers. So I have completed two roses. When I was stitching the first one, I didn't see anything. But I tried to stay patient. And a few cross later, the rose appears to me as if by magic.

So it's time to show you my work of the week.

This is before :

And this is now :

Before I stop my message, I want to thank you again.
We are coming from all over the world, and nevertheless, we all speak the same language : the passion for HAED stitching.

Thank you all,
Happy stitching for the coming week !

Marie.

More Progress

As I stitch on Wednesday evenings on my HAEDs most weeks I'm posting my update today so I hope that is OK:) I managed to finish page 2 of my QS Girly Gothic and made a small start on page 2.

I am so glad I've got my enthusiasm for this piece back. My youngest DD has been waiting for me to finish this for a long time! Lol!

QS Kimono Waterlilly Mermaid

Hi! This is another project I'm working on. It's QS Kimono Waterlilly Mermaid by Nadia Tate. It's only four pages, so it won't take me too long! I really like the Kreinik I have to use in this pattern, it's so beautiful! Unfortunately you can't see it on the photo, but trust me!

Leap froggie

Hi, it's me again! I know I promised to show a picture after Thursday's SAL, but I was so in the mood that I went on stitching and I stitched on Leap froggie all week. I feel a bit quilty towards my other projects, but this is my main focus and it would be nice to finish something before I've started ten other things...

I will keep working on Leap froggie at least today (Thursday Sal, yeah!) but here's already a photo of how she looks right now.

I'd like to say I really like this blog. I read it every day and I'm really motivated by your progresses. I've even started to write my blog in English as well, since there will be a lot more visitors from abroad! ;)

Keep up the good work and good luck today!

HAED Reward Program

Did all of you know about HAED's reward program? (hopefully, the link will work. It was a long one!) You finish your project, and send them photos, along with all of the data, and you get a chart of the same or lesser value for free! This also applies to any that are already completed! I know that some of you have some already completed, or close to it, so this is that extra incentive to keep stitching!

What a wonderful program, and the only thing that they ask in return, is that they reserve the right to use your image in their catalog! Now how great is that??

Everyone have a great Stitching Thursday!

Suzie

:)

I am off to stitch on Red Poppy
I wanted to say ... hey - I went to look for a pic to show you what she will look like
instead of finding it, I bought a few more HAEDS ;)
enablers you all are ;)
and then I look at all your progresses and think, I have to have this one and that one
wow....
If and when I ever get my stitch shop I will have to have a HAED night of the week so I do
not lose track
Thursdays will have to be taken :)
lol
Laura

Thursday's SAL!!

I hope as many of you can join us on Thursday as possible in our SAL.
Marie, I'm so sorry, I should have posted this... SAL mean Stitch-A-Long. We can't be together in one big room, so we stitch wherever we can and post pics after Thursday of Thursday's progress pictures.
Since we are all over the world, it is already Thursday for some of you, but only early afternoon on Wednesdays for others.
Wendy and I picked Thursdays for us to have a universal stitch-a-long day and we post pics of our progress Friday or the first chance we get. Life gets in the way, so we post when we can.
I hope this helps explain a little better....if you can stitch any time on Thursdays and post anytime Friday or after....regardless of your country. Go by the day as it falls in your country...not mine, not Wendy's.... If you can't join us for a universal day of stitching,,,stitch when you can and post when you can. Just enjoy your stitching and share them with us so we can enjoy them too!!
Have fun everyone! Can't wait to see your progress!!
Hugs!

SAL Thursday?

So it's Thursday (for me in NZ) will there be a SAL or is it a bit informal?

If there is a SAL I will definitely take part! I got my fabric so I can now start Sakura by Kuik.

Hello!

Hi, I'm Cath, 39, from South Wales in the UK. I've been stitching for about 5 years now and have just started my first HAED. I chose Enchanted Flute by Josephine Wall and am loving it.

I've just understood the idea of parking threads so am starting to do that now, hence the odd way everything is stitched so far. This is about half of page one, only another 23 to go.

The work on this blog is amazing. It's great to see some finished pieces (at least I now know that it is possible!). I look forward to watching everybody's work grow and sharing my progress with you.

Zodiac Marchetti

Well I have stitched one page of the Zodiac. It was a hard time to finish. Much, much stitches of diffrent colors. Compleet madness. But I have an easy page in advance... the Firefly is much black and bleu. Relaxing job.

I rotate my Wips in pages. So every time I have done a page I take an other Wip. The Rotation is, Zodiac, Marchetti, /Firefly, Brigit Ashwood and The Madonna of Christensen. And maybe I start with the Tower of Stony wood again. I have done a small part in 2007 of it. But Sheila Wolk with Metamorphosis is calling also..... mmmmmm doubt.

Intro From Lisa (UK)

Hi,
My name is Lisa and I'm 36 years old and from Yorkshire in the UK.
I've been stitching HAED's for about almost 4 years now I think and LOVE them. They really are a labour of love and although I stitch other things as well, I can't imagine not stitching on HAED's.
So far I have finished 2 designs, both by Selena Fenech. My first finish was her Dragon Fae Storykeep in 2006 and QS Tomboy followed this last year.

I then have 4 wips, one of which is my real labour of love, Nancy Faulkner's Cabin In The Woods, along with Hannah Disney's QS Alisha, Molly Harrison's QS Always Dreaming and Sara Butcher's Romeo & Juliet. Cabin is about 25 pages I think, and so far I'm on my 5th lol, so I know it's going to take years, but that's ok, I've no intention of going anywhere for a while lol.

I haven't worked on any of my others except Cabin in some time, so I'm excited that by joining here it might motivate me to pull my others out and put some stitches in them as well!

So excited to join you all....

Hi everyone,

My name is Tetcha and I am from Kelowna, BC Canada. I am 31 years old and thanks to my aunt have been stitching for about 15 years. I found HAED patterns about a year ago and admit I am totally addicted! I can honestly say I will probably never stitch anything but HAED's again because I have a wishlist that goes on forever and admit that I am a serial starter lol...

I have just updated my own blog (mystitchingjournal.blogspot.com) with all my progress pictures as I currently have too many (7) projects on the go (*insert sheepish smile here) which are:

Dark Cherry (2009 HAED SAL Challenge)
Guardian (Selina Fenech)
Lady in the Meadow QS (Kinuko Y. Craft Arts)
Motherhood QS (Selina Fenech)
Queen of Hearts Cameo QS (Rachel Anderson)
Stairway to Dreams (Josephine Wall)
Strange Kind of Blue (Selina Fenech)

I am currently working on Queen of Hearts trying to get my first page done, but my favourite one, Stairway to Dreams is the one screaming right now since I just finished the first page (of 64 ouch!)
Here is my pic:

I look forward to reading more about all of you and seeing what projects are keeping your needles flying....

Cheers, Tetcha

Intro and DC Update

Hi there, I'm Becca from Dogpackcentral. I've just started HAEDs this year and am really enjoying it. (Though I still have to figure out the best way to handle the confetti type areas without getting so frustrated.)

I'm doing the year long SAL with Dark Cherry, and here she is. Along with Stitching the Standard, which I'm about 700 stitches or so into.

Lastly, (although this is the first one I started) is Blossom Storykeep.

Mel's Introduction

Hi everyone! I am Mel! I am 33 and live in Louisiana. I have been stitching HAED designs for about a year. I have completed 2 storykeeps so far:

Amore

Iriskeeper

I am currently working on Dragon Knot 2. It will look like this when completed:

I also have Queen of Hearts kitted up and ready to go. I've recently purchased Mad Tea Party and Cinderella's Coach. I also have about 5 or more other patterns that I've purchased from HAED. I'm very excited to be part of this group!

Mirjam: Wip pics

Hi everyone,
As I promised, here are my wip pics:

Autumn Winds - Selina Fenech (after one evening)

How it´s going to look:

Storykeeper - Selina Fenech
How it´s going to look: Ow, and in case you where wondering, I LOVE Selina´s artwork! No wonder I´ve called my daughter Selina (because besides the beautifull paintings, I think ´Selina´ is a beautifull name!)!

Mirjam

Absence

It looks as though I will not be able to post any updates for a bit.  My computer died on me and I am not sure when i will be getting it fixed.  My access to my email is limited, so if you email and I don't respond...just wait.  :)

What I have seen of everyone's stitching is wonderful!  I have about 1500 stitches put into Minerva.  I don't like thinking how small a number that is for a HAED. LOL

Juls TOSW

Well I found my WIP picture..... and I did get a bit more done...no picture yet.....

Bonnie"s Breast Cancer Fairy

Hi Everyone, My name is Bonnie. I live in Gilbert, South Carolina. It is about 20 miles from Columbia. I am a converted southerner (originally from Idaho). I have been stitching for I would say 30 years. I have recently retired and I am in the process of cutting back hours at work. I will probably be working three days instead if 5. That will give me 2 more days for stitching. YEAH!

I really like HAED Designs. Several years ago, I purchased Breast Cancer Fairy by Wendy Kathleen. I didn.t want to stitch the background so I ordered hand dyed fabric from Silkweavers. It is a pretty 25 count pink Luguna. I started it doing 1 over 1. Somewhere along the way I kind of got discouraged and didn't feel like I was making any progress. Now that I see everyone's lovely work and gorgeous pictures, I am again optimistic. I can do this, I can. It is possible. lol. I think I am going to enjoy stitching all the lovely shades of pink and seeing her come to life.

This is my progress as of now. I started stitching on her shoulder, neck and hair. I am not sure which page it is but I thought it would be easier to go back later and stitch the pink ribbons which are her wings.
Thanks Wendy and Cindy for starting this wonderful blog and for the invite and welcome comments.

Koukiotis Sleeping Beauty 10 Mar 09

Hi to all my dear HAED stitchers here. This is my latest update on my Sleeping Beauty. I've finished 6 full pages and the last 30 stitches were put in at around 5am this morning. I am quite happy with the progress. I got to thank everyone for the encouragement and also showing their lovely wips on this blog as these are the main thing that really keep me going. Special thanks to Cindy F. (the creator of this blog) who takes the time to visit our blogs to leave a kind comment and encouragement. Also to my good friend Jackie who is always there to lift my spirits up and giving me great comments on my wip. Looking forward to see more wips today :0)))

and an introduction

Hello everyone, I'm Ingrid and I live in Belgium
After a quiet period, I went back to the building! I would like Wendy to thank for the invitation, I shame on me but had never previously of HEAVEN AND EARTH DESIGNS heard. They are beautiful and I could not ask me such a beautiful embroidery to buy. I have to still pick up in stores and that can only Friday. I look so forward, can hardly wait to get started. I chose snow white I liked and I am also a grandmother of 2 beautiful granddaughters, so it has actually been a destination!
sorry for my poor english but I do my best and I learn quickly!

Cheryl

Lisa aka Kiwiflowa

Hi my name is Lisa, my BB name is Kiwiflowa, and I live in Auckland New Zealand. I work full time and I used to study part time but this is the first year in 6 years that I'm not studying!!! So now the weekends, holidays and evenings are mine because I don't have homework anymore I'm really looking forward to getting some serious stitching done! My stitching tastes are way too broad, I love sampler, primitive, TW, kits like Dimensions and Lanarte, Mirabilia and L&L and of course HAED. I wish I was a bit pickier in what I liked it would be easier to decide what to stitch! To that end I've decided to dip my toe in and try stitching an HAED again. I've tried before but I didn't really have much time so the designs fell by the wayside. I have 15 HAED charts on my wishlist and last weekend I decided that Sakura will be my first HAED and bought it!

I don't like stitching over one solidly for an HAED so I've ordered some 40ct antique white linen and will stitch 1 over 2. I have the chart printed, floss and hopefully the linen will show up today or tomorrow!

Jess's Lavender Moon

My name is Jessica. I am a stay at home mom and this is my first post in this blog. I am working on Lavender Moon by Jessica Galbraith. It's my first HAED project and I have learned so much since I had first started. I have learned that parking or carrying threads is much faster than one thread at a time. I don't know why, but I had such a hard time wrapping my head around how the technique was suppose to be done. But with the help of some online friends and then the tutorial from this group, I think I have the hang of it now.
The two pictures that I have posted are before and after pics.
The top one was taken a few months ago and the bottom one was taken this morning. I managed to put in about 1250 stitches in the last 5 days. I really like parking threads! LOL
Thanks for letting me join in and share my progress!
