Hello from Lesley

Hi, I just want to say hi to everyone here. I love HAED charts and am busy working on a number of them. I have finished one -- the Letter L and have 6 more in the progress of being done. I have a companion to the L with the Letter G and it is over half finished now. I am hoping to get them made into pillows for Hubby and myself.

I am also working on Wizard's Emissary and have nearly completed the first row of pages. I have Daydreaming Fairy which is part of the year long SAL on the forum. One of my favourite artists on the site is Ciro Marchetti. I have a number of his charts and am working on two. Ancient Eygpt and Peacock's Lagoon. The final chart that I am working on at the moment is Pink Daydreams. I have the first page done and it is on the back burner right now waiting for me to finish a few others.

The rest of my work in progress.

Soon!

Watching all of your progress is so encouraging. I've decided to go with the black fabric and ordered it today. Can't wait for it to get here to start. Just need to make sure I have all my threads now.
Thanks for the advice and wonderful tips you've all been posting. Very helpful to a first-time HAED stitcher. :)

Juls Tower of Stoney Wood

Hi everyone! First let me thank CindyF. for the invitation! My name is Juls and I've been stitching for a really long time and couldn't imagine not .... I have 3 HAED's on the go but am really wanting to make progress on Tower of Stoney Wood! Here is what it will look like when completed! I have searched my pics for a progress picture but can't seem to find one ...so I will post a new progress picture after todays stitching! I can't commit to stitching on thursdays as I work a lot of thursdays so my day will just have to vary ..hope that's okay?

Maegwin4

Got even more done after this, but I haven't re-scanned it. I will try to in a few days. I'm working hard on my Mystic Stitch right now-but it's Thursday now hmmmmm......

I've almost got half of page one done. There is a little more done on it just haven't had time to do any scanning. This is Citrine QS and I'm doing it as part of HAED's SAL challenge. I'm very new to HAED and I hadn't realized the difference between QS and a whole chart so I'm hoping to get the full Citrine soon. My grandaughter loves butterflies so I have a few picked out for purchasing....as soon as my husband changes companies.
Everyone has such beautiful work done on theirs. I could probably spend all our money on these designs.
Happy stitching everyone!
Another update finally got to do some scanning today, but probably won't get much posting done.

Mirjam´s introduction post

Hi everyone!
I´m Mirjam, 24 years old and from the Netherlands, so don´t pay to much attention to my english ;). I´m totally addicted to Heaven and Earth designs and want to thank Cindy and Wendy so much that I can be part of this blog!
Currently there are three charts that I´m working on. Well... two charts that I´m working on and one very small wip to be honest...
The ones I´m working on are: Storykeeper and Autumn winds from Selina Fenech and Qs Butterfly Fae from Nadia Tate (the neglected one). Right now I only have a picture of the last one, but hopefully I will have a pic of the others this evening. But don´t expect to much of them, I just started them.

Bye for now!
Mirjam

Hi

I just purchased a new chart called Tarot of Dreams. And I decided to put a back burner on water for a bit as I have started it 3 times. So I started Tarot of Dreams. I haven't collected all my threads yet but I went ahead and started it. This is what it will look like when it's done.

Introduction From Rachel

Hi everyone! First, I want to thank you for the invitation to join this blog. This is the only other blog besides my own personal blog that I have participated in.

A little bit about me: I just celebrated my 10 year anniversary with my husband. I have a 9 year old daughter and a 4 year old son. I have been stitching for almost 20 years! I taught myself when I was 10 years old. That was a disaster. Who knew you actually had to separate the 6 strands of DMC?!?! I have since learned a lot, and have quite a few finishes hanging on my walls.

I have been stitching HAED for a few years now, but haven't had a finish yet! I have 3 WIPs though, and I wanted to share my progress so far with all of you.

This first one is the first one I ever started. This is Wizard of Oz (Gustafson), stitched 2 x 1 on 18ct Aida. This is about 1/2 of page one. The only deterrent I have with this one is the amount of thread changes! This next one is Gossamer Fairy StoryKeep. I just started this one a few months ago, but have not stitched on it in awhile. Stitched 1 x 1 on 28ct Lugana.

And the last one I have started so far is the QS SAL, Fiona. Stitched 1 x 1 on 28ct Lugana. I am really enjoying this one, but have slowed my stitching because of school.
I am looking forward to chatting with everyone, and seeing everyone's progress!

~Rachel~

How to Carry Threads

This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...

1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..

2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...

3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..

4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....

5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....

6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Hope this helps!!!!

Friday's A Wintery Heirloom update

I work on my HAED on Friday nights. I worked about 4 hours on it last night and completed around 300 stitches. I have to tell you...I am really tired of this tree! It is nothing but confetti stitches so it is taking a while to stitch it up. I love the colors though.
The last time I posted everyone had comments on my threads hanging down. It really isn't scary, you just need to practice it. it really makes stitching a Haed project very easy. Once you learn to do it, you won't stop...it kinda carries over to all projects. I can post the steps to carrying threads....they are very easy to follow.

Hi everyone!

So glad I was able to join in on this blog. I have 2 haeds that I am currently working on. One is The Story Keeper (full sized one) and that was my very first haed. The second one I'm working on is Daydreaming Fairy with the sal. I'm so looking forward to getting to know everyone and seeing all the beautiful work that Haed stitchers do!! You are all such artists!!

Here are my 2 WIP as they sit:

Intro

Hi there,
Joined here because I really need some encouragement to start my HAED. At moment, on way to airport - going to Far North Queensland for 2 weeks, no internet access, so will go into more detail on my return. Thanks for letting me join!
Robyn

I finally began!

Hello everyone!

I couldn't wait for my threads anymore so after a big day at work Friday, I decided to go to the nearest shop to buy 3 colors (More expensive than by Internet, that's why I was waiting...)

It was 6 o'clock, I hadn't eat yet, it was badly snowing /raining outiside (A bad mix for a drive...) I couldn't find the tiny shop between all the big one on the main street. So I stop and made a phone call in a public cabin without a roof (No, I don't have any cell phone yet) and the gentleman explained me the way.

So, I finally had 3 colors, a bad hairday and I've started my Goldilocks yesterday!!!

Look at the result, aren't they the most beautiful brown and black threads you've ever seen? LOL!

I think I'm a bit crazy but I know that you'll understand me ;)

Bon point de croix à toutes!

So nice to be here

Hoi... I am Astrid. Living in the Netherlands. Mother of two sons. (25 and 23) Husband Ger is the best...... and we are also parents of a great Dane named Falco.... this dog is 7,5 years old. My stitching carriere began 25 years ago with the birth of my son. 4 years ago I met a virus called HAED. I infected my father with the same virus. He has now accomplished 4 large pieces.
I like the large projects very much. I like Marchetti, Christensen, Kinuko Y craft. and more....
O and very important .... Sheila Wolk.....
I show some Wips. I rotate my projects when I finish a page.

Madonna after a large amount of frogging...on the road again.

Fire Fly from Brigit Ashwood..... very nice..

An Introduction

Hello everyone! *waves* Let me introduce myself. My name is Stephanie and I'm 21 and have been married for just over a year to my wonderful husband. We have two kitty's named Simi and Zarek. I'm currently a pre-service teacher and graduate with my degree in December. I'm an avid crafter and reader when I have the time in my crazy college schedule. I currently have... oh wow I need to go count... 9 or 10 different HAED projects going on so you may see a great array from me! What I work on all depends on my mood at the moment. Well, it's great to meet you all and I'm so excited to be a part of this group and to see everything that everyone is doing!

Red Poppy: Ching Chou Kuik

I love HAED, and think Michele does a great job creating the designs. I have 6 or 7 pieces to do for HAED and most are by the same artist : Ching Chou Kuik. SO my goal is to finish... which is the thing ... I am a serial starter... perhaps I can finish these, and put them in my new living room... which is not yet finished ... lol
hey... I am not in charge of that project... :)
Here are the pieces to show the design I will be working on : Red Poppy
and what the completed project willl look like.
I did get it started... and I love stitching on it... SO I promise to stitch on her at least once a week...but my goal will be more :)
Laura
who is so excited to be part of this, and a smile to my friends out there :)
Happy Stitching!

Maxine's Puggles Update

I haven't felt like stitching much this last week but I was determined to join in with this week's SAL so I got Puggles out. ...unfortunately I only managed an hour, I wish it could have been longer but at least an hour is better than nothing :)

Here's the before pic

After pic...Thanks for looking. I'll get around to checking out everyone's progress shortly :)

Maxine So Much Stash - Sew Little Time (my blog)

Kim - Bunny On Path

This was supposed to be week 2 of the Thursday HAED SAL. For me it was more like week 1! I started on the blue sky, and in the process had to frog all of week 1's work! Miscount! So now it is more like I started from the top RIGHT instead of left. Oops!
As you can see, the bunny ears are emerging. There are actually 2 shades of blue and 3 shades of gray in there.

I included a pic of how I work - except for the Gazelle floor stand I use. I use Q-snaps (backwards) but just top & bottom since the fabric is so small. See my cute little needle holder magnet? I bought it many years ago at a little stitch shop I used to frequent. A local lady hand painted it. It is a woman stitching in the middle of projects scattered all around. The words read "this one I'm going to finish". I have NO idea how she could paint so small - especially the words! I just love it because that is my ultimate goal (of course!) with every project I start. My mantra.
I hope everyone was able to stitch this week and got much further than I did!
Kim

So happy !

Hello everybody !

My name is Marie, I’m 27 years old and I live in Alsace wich is in France.
I’m not very familiar with blogs and it’s the first time I join one of them if I’m accepted !). But I’m ready to learn because this one is THE ONE that I was waiting for ! I was always saying to my husband how glad I would be if I could share my passion for HAED with some other people who does stitch HAED too. And here is that blog which I discovered two days ago. What a godsend ! I share my discovery with someone else who stitch a lot, specially HAED. I hope that she will join the blog too, because believe me, she is amazing.

So now, let’s talk about the one I choose ! Choosing the one I wanted to stitch was the first real problem, because there is a lot of charts that I’m in love with ! The artists that I prefer are : James Christensen, Scott Gustafson (with his beautiful Sleeping Beauty for example), Ciro Marchetti and Kinuko Craft. But I also like all the others, but my hearts beats mostly for those one. (I hope that my english is understandable). So my choice is a artwork from Kinuko Craft : Winter Angel. In this picture, I like the peaceful atmosphere, the unreal and bluegreen sky, and the Angel in the middle. When I look at her, I can almost hear the melody she wants to send us, and I find it appeasing.

I begin to stitch it and I’m only at the beginning. Here is where I am ( sorry if the picture is not very good but I tried many times and this one is the better...)

I must say that everytime I stitch on my work, I have doubts like Is it good enough ? or Is it as pretty as it should be ? I don’t feel reassured, but the only way I found for it, is to go on with my stitch work. So I try to do my best and I slowly continue my work.

Well, I hope you will enjoy my message, and I hope everyone a nice week-end !

Cindy F's St. Nick Progress

So sorry for the horrible pics! I was rushing so I can get some housework and errands taken care of! I've stitched almost 500 stitches this week.

Before:

After:

You really have to stand back to realize this is a toy, a clock and a framed picture on the mantle. I'm probably the only one who starts an HAED in the middle! I was afraid the fabric wasn't cut straight on this, but since I haven't tried gridding yet, thought I'd better stick with what I know best....starting in the middle...lol... I'm learning so much from you guys and I truly appreciate all of your suggestions. Next HAED, I will do so differently:)

You guys are amazing stitchers!!!

Sunken Treasure Progress

I've spent pretty much the entire week working on Sunken Treasure. It must be all the inspiration from seeing the great work you ladies are posting. I've put in around 17 hours and 2000 stitches in since the first of March. The plan is to work on it through the weekend, hopefully fill in as much of the page as I can and then work on another project until next Thursday again.

After doing some experimenting, I've realized that gridding isn't something that will work for me and I can't work in blocks of 10x10. That will explain why I have so much scattered stitching.

Big Bear Falls update

Hi everyone!

Well, my blue blob now has some purple in it! I won't be stitching on this again until the last week of March but then it's full steam ahead! I'll see you all then.

Carolyn NC's Intro

Hi everyone,
My name is Carolyn & I'm married with three grown children, mostly. DD married in Sept., DS is marrying in 3 weeks, and DD is in college. So what did we do with all of our free time since the kids were gone? Went out and got another baby - puppy, that is, so I'm back to caring for a child, more or less...haha
However, it is cutting into my stitching time, believe it or not, and what do I do? Go buy a HAED! And it's all your faults. :) JK
I've been admiring everyone's HAED stitching so much, I was dying to join in the fun (as if I have no other stitching...LOL) But enough kidding, I would love some suggestions from you all, since many of you are more experienced with HAEDs and this is my first. Mine is Secret Garden 3 - it's the colors that got me...

I may cheat on this one and stitch it on 25 ct. black lugana, but I'm a little cautious with this, having stitched on dark fabrics before - however, not quite this size. So here's my question. I'm not exactly thrilled with stitching nothing but black, but will black fabric be such a pain to stitch that I'll hate I ever started it? I plan on gridding it and marking each page. Also, because the fabric is black, will the colors come up well with two strands? Or should I just deal with it, stitch it on white/off-white and and get on with it? Thanks for your help. :)

Mich - Friday, so time to show my progress

Saturday afternoon I started my first HAED, Cabin in the woods, and boy oh boy, did I have fun since then !! It was so fun to stitch on this one. Except for the blue on top, you could say that it was nothing else than confetti stitches the whole time, so it went slower then expected but was fun to search and count to find the symbols I needed.
You notice that it's a new work, because I kind of neglected all my other hobbies this week, just wanted to stitch on this one the whole time. So much fun !!!

Progress of last thursday / Joke Vibrant Vista

Thank you alle for your nice comments and warm welcome! I joined you girls just in time to stitch yesterday evening, and I promised to put some pictures here. Here are the before and after picture, so you can see what I did ; watching television and stitch :)

My HAED progress

How was your first Thirsday HAED SAL ? I enjoyed it so much and in the meantime I was thinking of you guys!! I would like to say again how happy Cindy and I are with this wonderful group here! I feel like the happiest person on earth now. Seeing all those wonderful projects, really makes me do some more stitching. I guess I won't have time enough to do all the things that I want to do. I think I will need to find a store where you can buy a lot of time ;)

Yesterday I worked on my "Land of Enchantment" and here is my progress so far.

I had to do a lot of confetti stitching, that's why there is not that much progress. But we are staying at home this weekend and I'm planning to do a lot of stitching on my HAED. I can't wait to see some more on my project either.

Wishing you all a very blessed weekend.
Hugs my friends,
Wendy

Sally's Progress

I think I must have had a motivation boost just by joining all you ladies here! I always stitch on my HAEDs on a Wednesday evening as a SAL with my friend Lisa and that's what I did this week. I didn't want to put QS Girly Gothic down so I decided to join you all and stitch on her again last night. I am so pleased with my progress. Page three is almost finished then just pages 2 and 4 to go!
Everybodys' pieces are looking wonderful so far:) I have really enjoyed looking at them even though I may not have chance to comment.
