I am so excited to be part of this blog, and so glad that Joke agreed to be my buddy! Here is my first HAED - James Christensen's QS Fantasea. I started this in 2006, stitched for 7 hours, then didn't touch a needle for over four years. So, here she is at 21 hours (2,758 stitches, 10.6% complete). She is being stitched on 22 ct. Hardanger, 2 over 1 with DMC floss. If you look closely, you can see the start of her head! Thanks for looking!

Elaine- what size needle are you using? I'm doing a HAED on 25 count 2 over 1 and I find that at times it gets difficult getting the needle through. Thanks!
To be honest, I don't know. They are needles that I bought in bulk at my LNS before it closed (like 5 years ago). She sold them 3 for $1.00 on squares of green felt, so no packaging. They might be 26?
Elaine, I love the vibrancy of colors. The blues especially pop right out at you.
Are you finding working with 2 over 1 on 25 count tight? I was thinking of starting a new HAED (Touching the Hem of God) with the recommended 1 over 1.
This is actually 22 ct. (Hardanger). It's a tad tight, but I don't think 1 over 1 would have been enough coverage. I wasn't brave enough to try 25 ct. but I'm going to use that on my next HAED start (a retired Ravenscroft).
I have always done HAEDs on 25 count but typically 1 over 1. But I decided with the Mad Tea Party to try 2 over 1. I like the look (like a tapestry) but I do find it slows down my stitching and I'm a slow stitcher to begin with.
Beautiful start! :-)
