Mimosa's latest update

It's been a long time since my last update here.
I had started Galbreth "The Morrigan Tapestry" at last summer. But then I've been not stitching for almost half year. At last I just restarted recently. I've just finished page1. There are beautiful dark blue. I'm stitching it on 20ct aida, 2 over 1.

Mimosa's new satart!

Hello dear friends,

Thank you for all your lovely and warm comments for my finished Unicorn! I'm very happy and I'm very glad to share my HAED with you. I want to enjoy stitching HAED in the future for a long time. And I'm looking forward seeing all your wonderful HAED.

By the way, today I'd like to share my new started two QS with you.

First one is "QS Sweet Remembrance". This chart is the spot prize for me at St Patricks Bingo of BB this year.(Thank you HAED!) There are many bright color. I'm enjoying stitching her hair now.

Another one is "QS Dark Cherry", as you know, BB SAL's chart. I started in Jan, but it was not stitched for a several months.
This time, I decided to change the fabric, from 25ct linen to 18ct aida, and I've just re-started. 18ct is really comfortable for me.

Mimosa's Unicorns - HD!!

The end of a last month, I finished my first HAED "Unicorns Cut and Bright".

I really enjoyed stitching it from start to end.
This is a present for my mom. I hope she like it.

It's stitched 2 over 1 full crosses on 18ct Aida.
Started: June 6, 2009
Finished: July 30, 2009

Mimosa's Unicorns Update - Jul 16, 2009

Since my last update, I finished whole of the first row.

Then I got into the second row. There is a swinging unicorn tail.
This chart is long sideways. So second row is the last row, and is less than half the length of normal row. I've reached the bottom left hand corner.

Mimosa's Unicorns

Hello my friends!

It's been a while since I last updated here. I had started new HAED recently. This is my focus HAED, Unicorns Cut and Bright by Yvonne Gilbert. I'll present it to my mom on this summer, so I'm stitching it hard everyday. I want to finish it until the end on July as much as possible. I've finished the upper half way of 1st row. I really enjoy stitching these Unicorns :) It's started on Jun 6, 2009, is stitched 2 over 1 full crosses on 18ct aida.

Now, I post wip pictures on my Japanese blog everyday, you can see my daily progress there. It's written by Japanese only. But you can see some thumbnail photos on the top of main page of it, and those are clickable to enlarge. Please come and enjoy :)

Mimosa's update on Aprl 2, '09

This is my another wip Emerald City by Steven A. Roberts. I started it last October and stitched half way of page one. But I had not been stitching until this week after that. At last, I completed page one. There are a lot of beautiful blue colors.

Mimosa's Update

I finished more than half way of QS Red Rose Tattoo. She had first rose tattoo, and beautiful tail appeard. There are only less than two pages. But I think I have to do switch of mood. I'll get back to her after a while.:)

Mimosa's Introduction

Hi everyone!
My name is Mimosa from Japan, I'm happy to join in this wonderful blog. I found and challenged HAED about 3 years ago, but I gave up on that time. Then, I started again another HAED and have been stitching it from last Sep. Right now, I have 7 HAED wips.

Tutorials

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
