I ran into a problem with From the Ashes. I have a big color difference between two skeins of the same color! I didn't know before I began that there could be such a color difference with color 647. It doesn't look good. Here it is:
All the dark grey above the arrows should have been the same as the lighter, greener grey as it is below the arrows. Can you see it? Awful isn't it?! This really sucks. As you can see the new color is much better then the old one. I don't know how I can change it. I think frogging will make it worse because I think that's undoable without damaging what I have already stitched. And I don't have more skeins of the old 647. Starting over is also not an option for me. I have stitched over 80% and I have been stitching on this for 2,5 years. It's an older pattern, so there was no usage list included.
But there is also some good news. I finished QS Dark Cherry!

Congrats on your finish!
I think the colour difference will probably not be noticeable once you have the whole piece done. It will probably look like it's supposed to be there.
I'd say keep going for sure.
Congratulations on you beatiful finish! :)
I think the colour difference is not that noticeable when looking at the whole picture. I know it might disturb you as you know where the problem is but I have to say that I wouldn't have even noticed it if I had not seen the picture.
I dont think the colour change is that noticeable and going by the larger photo - it looks marbled effected anyhow and so it could be taken as part of the design.
Congrats on the finish though ;o)
I agree with the other three comments :) In fact I keep looking and looking and I don't see much of a difference, that is, on the picture of the whole design. so I think I should go on like you did, and just finish it! Congrats on Dark Cherry :)
Thanks everyone. It makes me feel better. :-)
I really couldn't see the difference either but I know exactly how you feel. On Wrath the first half page was done in 154 and then the rest was done in 154 also but you could really really tell that the dye lot was different. I freaked out but everyone assured me it wasn't that bad and actually now I can't really tell..it looks more like shading than anything else. I think yours will be okay once it is all done and no one will be able to tell otherwise!
If it were mine, I would go forward - the shadings of gray make it more unique - color choice is the decision of the designer - you can be your own designer - work with it! If someone looks at your finished piece that closely and criticize it - they need to get a life! Your work is gorgeous!
