Taxi companies compete for our guests' business at the hotel where I work by offering us desk clerks tips/commissions for calling their company. This funds my cross stitch addiction! This week I earned enough to buy a new HAED during the sale. Of the 11 on my wish list, I've narrowed it to 2, but absolutely can't decide! Will you offer me your opinions on each piece?
This is Book Keep. I love the rich browns and reds and all the details of the candles, books, papers, etc. I only wish he look on his face would be less upset.
This is The Astrologer. I love his face and beard and the bright blues.
What do you think about each?
TIA,
Sabine

Beautiful choices!! But my favorite of the 2 is "The Astrologer".
My favorite is The Astrologer. There is more contrast in it. Although Book Keep is a beautiful pattern, I would like to have a bit more color variety when starting a huge work like that.
Oooooh, tough choice! They are both intriguing, and rich in color. I love all of the background details in the Book Keep, but like you, for some reason, his eyes jump out. .I clicked on the image to enlarge it, and that was the first thing that caught my eye, distracting me from looking at everything else. A balanced image should keep your eyes flowing back and forth, over the whole thing. Maybe you could contact Michele and figure out a way of changing the "look" in his eyes.
And I love the Astrologer. .I love the richness, the colors, and, (heehee), he reminds me of Dumbledore from the Harry Potter books/movies. I love the light source on his face and beard, and the front curve of the globe.
Considering that there isn't anything that I dislike about the Astrologer, I guess I would go with that one first, and then contact Michele to see if she could suggest any adjustments to make for the book keep.
My favorite is the Astrologer...mind you they are both stunning!!!
I prefer the Astrologer but I must say that I'm a fan of Gustafson!
I've got to go with the Astrologer also.
I am going for Astrologer too. I Just love the the contrast of the evening blue sky and the red curtain and also the sheen/sparkle on this chart.
I just think Book Keep is a bit too dark for my taste. Then again, there are few HAEDs which I didn't even take a second look before but when I see wips on this blog on those HAEDs, I always go like 'wow! it looks even nicer than the picture itself.'
Let us know what you decide :0)
While they are both great, I go with the Astrologer too. Love the blues, and his face is so kind and warm.
Anita
That is a hard one but I would pick Astrologer love the colours of the sky offsetting the whole picture
Hello Sabine !
The Astrologer is one of the charts I want to sticth one day... so I would be glad to see it stitched by you ! He's so beautiful with this blue atmosphere, and he has something magical.... I love it ! I must say that Book Keep is a very nice chart too, but My choice is definitely The Astrologer !
I hope that all our opinions will help you to choose !
Happy choice !!
Both are wonderful designs but I think I'd go for The Astrolger.
I hope you enjoy which ever you choose.
I like the second one better. You can see the Astrolger's face better, the first looks too dark to me
Oo gosh !!!they are both beautiful ..... book keep is a bit dark and low color and astrologer is very beautiful color. But on the other side book keep has some nice details.
Difficult .... I choose ... the astrologer
I totally agree with everyone's choice above, although I'm intrigued by Book Keep, maybe because I'm a librarian? I think stitching the Astrologer is more fun, because of the colours.
Both are beautiful and I am sure you will do both. If it was me, I would start with book keep. LIke you I love the colors. Good luck on which every you choose.
They are both wonderful designs, but I prefer the Astrologer. This is a lovely one.
